The Winter Bash! The big reunion over winter always ends in a messy state with us all catching up after a long cold winter! For the past couple of years we have ventured to the Forest Hills Hotel in Frodsham, but due to circumstances out of our hands we were unable to book for the size of the party required!
This saw the club turn to our sponsors Belle Vue Coach Hire who have many contacts within the entertainment sector! Adam came up trumps getting us all booked in to Bredbury Hall Hotel accompanied by a visit to the dogs at Manchester’s BelleVue Greyhound Stadium! Different thats for shore!
Well as always when I arrived at the Hotel it wasn’t hard to find the rest of the group in their usual haunting ground…the bar! Plenty of catching up was to be done after a long winter break and the beers were flowing thick and fast!
The top of the range coach laid on by our kind sponsor Ian at Belle Vue Coaches soon arrived in some challenging weather conditions! Hats of to the driver nothing fazed him cool as a cucumber some would say!
The Night at the Dogs was superb! And as usual with a CCC Winter Bash Weekend it soon started to snow heavily! The dogs were still running and we were all still loosing plenty of bets but the snow was coming down thick and fast! We soon discovered that Mike has been moonlighting lately as the ‘Dispicable Me’ character ‘Gru’ which had us all on the floor crying laughing!
We were treated to a lovely 3 course dinner during our stay at the Dogs and I’m sure we will be returning again next year!
Later seen us all head back to the Hotel and a few of the oldies had a nightcap in the bar and made a hasty retreat to bed. We are not sure wether its because they were child free for the night (Cough) or they cant hack the pace anymore!
The rest who were left behind were soon ushered down an old medieval underground tunnel which brought you out in the most ‘exclusive’ club in Stockport! Trainers…you’re not coming in, jeans……you’re not coming in, no collard shirt…..you’re not coming in but we soon managed to sneak past a few bouncers and got ready to get the dancing shoes on! It was at this point that the ‘rebel’ of the club Flexi soon got dragged out for not having a collared shirt on. Note for next year guys….pack your sunday best!
Well I can say personally that i thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and it soon got me in the mood ready for the 2016 show season! It was great to catch up after a long winter and is certainly one not to miss next year!
A big thanks needs to go out to all behind the scenes for the organisation as I know how difficult it became this year! Although Adam at Belle Vue soon stepped up to the plate and saved Mike again!
See you all at the NEC!
